All of the children in Year 5 and 6 should now have received a child and an adult ticket so that they can attend the South Shields vs Hyde match on Saturday 23rd of March. The game will Kick Off at 3pm and you may see some of our children waving flags for the players just before the kick-off.
The children are also welcome to join the team from the foundation from 1.30pm for fun on the 3G pitch which will include football, hockey, rounders and other games.
If you are in another Year Group it would be lovely to see you at the match tomorrow and you can get reduced priced tickets from the club website.
Please remember that children must be accompanied by an adult to gain entry into the ground.
From time to time our children may come across content online which gives them ‘Yukky Feelings’ (makes them sad, scared or worried). It is especially important that children know to follow the Kidsafe Rules which we teach at Ashley:
- Walk Away
- Say No
- Tell a Trusted Grown-Up
There will always be risks posed to children, both online and offline and it is important that we give them the skills and strategies to be able to deal with these risks appropriately.
As grown-ups we can make sure we are aware of age restrictions on Apps and games, use privacy settings, block and report users or posts that are worrying and above all, communicate with our children. Remind them not to accept friend requests from people they don’t know and to check with a Trusted Grown-Up before sharing personal information.
As always there are some really useful websites where you can get a wealth of information.
- Childnet International
- UK Safer Internet Centre
- Parent Info
- Internet Matters
- NSPCC Online Safety
- Common Sense Media (I use this one lots)
Please also be reassured that when children are working online on school hardware that key strokes and content accessed/searched for is monitored and only age appropriate content is available.
Our friends from Openzone, based at The Word have been busy making videos for parents to help them keep their children safe whilst online. Please watch their first one – we think it is very good. 🙂
Today we say goodbye to Mrs Carol Bone who has worked at our school for 15 years.
We will all miss her very much and wish her lots of wonderful days of retirement. Enjoy 🙂
Apologies for any inconvenience caused today. You will be glad to know that school will be open as usual tomorrow (Wednesday 23rd January).
A huge thank you to all of the parents, carers and other family members who came to our Nursery Christmas Craft day.
We had a fantastic day filled with lots of fun and even more glitter!
The children thoroughly enjoyed having their family members in nursery with them.
Thank you to everyone who was able to send in some produce for our school Harvest Festival Assembly this morning.
All donations will be given to Hospitality and Hope which is a food bank and homeless charity based locally at Laygate in South Shields.

Don’t miss the South Tyneside Festival Summer Parade on Saturday 30 June, which this year has an amazing theme all based around the tales of Monsters, Myths and Magic. The Parade will leave South Shields Town Hall at 1pm and makes its way through the town centre to Bents Park where there will be an action packed afternoon of free family fun entertainment to enjoy. Find out more about this event (the biggest carnival of its kind in the North East), along with the free Kids Fun-Fest at the Seafront Amphitheatre during the school holidays, at www.southtynesidefestival.co.u
