Calling all year 5 parents! Just a quick reminder that we are currently starting our new art topic, learning about the Spanish artist Joan Miro.
Next week, we plan to create ideas for our own sculptures using ‘junk’ or materials from your weekly recycling – Miro used all manner of items ranging from old corrugated boxes, to twisted up sweet wrappers.
We’ve asked the children to have a think about the type of abstract sculpture they wish to create and bring in the pieces of ‘junk’ or ‘stuff’ they will need – even old hair bobbles, parts of broken toys or shells would do.
If you would like to find out more about the artist and his sculptures to help your child collect a small amount of ‘junk items’, Google ‘Miro sculpture’ or follow this link.
Many thanks in advance – we’re looking forward to sharing our amazing sculptures!
